Weekend workshop in Kernelæder – Copenhagen, 23–24 March 2027 The course is an introduction to the craft, where you will learn the basic techniques and work on your own vegetable-tanned leather project.

There will be plenty of time to focus on your work and receive individual guidance along the way.

This course is for you if you have never worked with vegetable-tanned leather before, but it is also for you if you simply need some inspiration and would like to develop your skills alongside others.

Date: 23–24 January 2027 Time: 10.00–17.00 both days Location: Nørrebro, Copenhagen Price: DKK 1,850. The starter project is included. Materials for your own project are charged according to use. The cost can vary considerably, depending on how much you want to make and how large a project you take on.

Tools, needles, thread and everything else you need will be provided.

Coffee, tea and snacks are included in the price. Please bring your own lunch.

After the course, you will receive a short booklet with techniques and links to places where you can buy tools and other items yourself.

That way, you can continue at home afterwards if you wish.

Programme:

Saturday

A brief introduction to the materials, tools and techniques. A small exercise where you will try out the basic techniques of the craft.

After lunch, you will start on your own project, which you will continue working on for the rest of the day.

We plan to finish at 17.00, but if anyone is keen to carry on, we can continue a little longer and perhaps start a little earlier on Sunday. We can agree on the details nearer the time.

Sunday

Continue working on your own project. The course ends with completing the projects and a short review of the days.

Who am I?

My name is Maria Solon. I have worked with vegetable-tanned leather for more than 20 years.

I am a qualified teacher and psychotherapist, and since 2016 I have had my own brand, Solon Handmade, where I make vegetable-tanned leather products with a simple design.
