Adoption: Det taler vi ikke om
Lars-Hussein, who was adopted by Danish missionaries in 1967, had to make the journey from south to north. A journey that others decided for him. And one that no one wanted to talk about—not even today.
Adoption is not a phenomenon that only emerged in the post-war period. But globalisation set new standards for adoption. Whereas it had previously taken place mainly locally, large numbers of children were taken across national borders.
From abroad to Denmark, more than 22,000 children have been adopted. Those who are now adults have been active in the adoption debate for several years. This has given the debate on adoption an absolutely indispensable and very important voice. Adoption has therefore received more attention in recent years than it did previously.
In the talk, Lars-Hussein will tell the story of his inner and outer journey. Of the journey with an adoptive family, from growing up in Rwanda to his teenage years and adult life in Denmark.
Lars-Hussein has previously given talks at Gilleleje Bibliotek, Ugerløse Forsamlingshus and taken part in TV Bella - København, as well as other media. The ticket price includes something to drink.
