10-Strings Duo
On 9 January 2027 at 19:30, you can experience 10-Strings Duo performing at Københavns Musikskole, Staldgade 29, 1699 København V.
10-Strings Duo is an ensemble consisting of Arjun Ganguly (cello) and Nichlas Overgaard (guitar). They are named after Reginald Smith-Brindle’s 10-String Music for cello and guitar. The duo was formed in 2023 during their studies, and since then they have performed in both large and small halls in Copenhagen and Berlin.
10-String Duo has a repertoire spanning three categories. Their classical repertoire includes original works for cello and guitar, as well as their own arrangements of cello sonatas by, among others, Schubert, Boccherini and Debussy. The duo particularly enjoys playing contemporary music that pushes the boundaries of what the two instruments can do. Arjun and Nichlas are very interested in collaborating with composers, and in 2025 Marianna Filippi composed a piece for 10 Strings Duo, which they performed at Statens Museum for Kunst. Arjun and Nichlas also play popular and folk music, which is particularly well suited to the instruments’ timbres. This includes music by Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos and Duplessy.
Look forward to an exciting and varied concert, where the guitar’s and cello’s ten strings are put to every conceivable use.
