Unbound – Tereza Bettinardi
Our next Unbound guest has made her way to Copenhagen all the way from Brazil! Graphic design lovers, look forward to stepping into Tereza Bettinardi's universe of typography, editorial design and graphics.
Voted by her peers into Creative Boom's top 20 creatives of 2026, Tereza is a designer, editor and publisher whose incredibly versatile and bold work will feed you ample energy and colour as she gives us a talk and hands-on workshop at DMJX.
The Talk (16:30-17:30h)
What constitutes the design of a book? Is it defined by its typography, images, format and materials, as well as by the relationships among those who make and read it? Drawing on twenty years of experience in design, Tereza Bettinardi reflects on her practice as an editorial designer and approaches design as a relational process shaped by collaboration, material conditions and circulation.
These questions also inform the work of Clube do Livro do Design, which Tereza founded in 2020 as a virtual reading group and which later grew into an independent publishing house dedicated to expanding access to critical design writing in Portuguese. Drawing connections between her design practice and the experience of the Clube, the talk explores how design and publishing can build common vocabularies and strengthen the communities that gather around books.
The Workshop (17:30-20:30h)
We have 20 spots available for design professionals and students who want to turn Tereza's inspiration into action after her talk. A fast-paced, hands-on course inspired by Corita Kent’s teaching practice. Through playful exercises in observation and making, participants will learn to notice what is often overlooked and see the everyday with renewed attention.
