After returning in 2025 with the singles "Nightcrawling" and "You Can Be So Cruel", London-based indie rockers The Howlers are back with their new single "Viper", released on 7 May.
The latest release is followed by the announcement of their second album, 'Heavy', due out on 9 October — a bold, sensual statement as the band enters its most defining chapter yet.
Driven by a pulsing riff, a relentless rhythm section and raw, urgent energy, "Viper" captures The Howlers at their most direct — indie rock 'n' roll rooted in tension, desire and consequence.
It sets the tone for 'Heavy', an album on which frontman Adam Young takes his songwriting into darker, more impulsive territory.
After a period of change in late 2024, The Howlers entered a new phase, with Adam Young rebuilding the project as a duo alongside drummer Toby Richards — a change that transformed both the band's sound and creative direction, bringing a renewed sense of focus and identity.
This reset followed a breakthrough year.
Their self-financed debut album 'What You've Got to Lose to Win It All' was widely acclaimed across Europe and reached the Top 10 on the UK Independent Breakers Charts.
That momentum translated directly to the stage, where a sold-out 18-date UK headline tour cemented the band as one of the country's most exciting live acts, followed by a European tour with sold-out shows in eight countries.
While their debut was marked by grief and personal loss, 'Heavy' comes from a very different place.
The album is driven by the tension between desire and consequence, overconfidence and reality, and illuminated by the allure of the night, the intoxication of impulse and the clear reflection that follows afterwards.
