Mark William Lewis + Spawner
From London’s experimental underground to the Danish indie rock scene On 22 October, Pumpehuset and Night Journeys present an evening with Mark William Lewis, supported by Danish indie rock trio Spawner.
Mark William Lewis
The British artist Mark William Lewis is one of the most talked-about new names on the alternative scene and is now returning to Copenhagen. With roots in London’s experimental music scene, he challenges the traditional boundaries of songwriting with a distinctive and uncompromising sound.
On his latest album, Tomorrow Is Perfect, he presents his most fully realised work to date, and has received praise from media outlets such as Pitchfork and The Fader. In recent years, his music and live shows have achieved cult status, and he is the first musician ever to be signed to film company A24’s record label.
Spawner
Spawner are a rising indie rock trio who have made a strong impression with their debut album, Air is Getting Stranger. The album has received widespread praise from reviewers both in Denmark and internationally, and the title track has been highlighted by CLASH Magazine. With close vocal harmonies and a sonic universe that moves between folk, country, punk, grunge and shoegaze, the trio develop a sound that is raw, melodic and unpredictable.
