Lær at dogmestrikke - håndledsvarmere
Learn dogmestrik! Bring size 3–6 knitting needles to the workshop.
We teach dogmestrik, a technique in which you knit with unprocessed raw wool, without carding or spinning. It is entirely natural, sustainable and a simple process that produces beautiful knitting.
In just a few steps, you go from unprocessed raw wool to holding a finished product in your hands. We knit with wool from Spælsau sheep in West Jutland, whose very long fibres make it possible to knit without any preparation.
At the workshop, you will learn dogmestrik and find out about wool, plant dyes and wet felting. The price includes raw wool to make a pair of wrist warmers using a simple pattern. You can also choose to make a West Jutland shepherd’s waistcoat, a wrap-over waistcoat with a hood. If you choose this option, you can buy additional wool for DKK 195, giving you enough for the whole waistcoat.
You do not need to be good at knitting to attend the workshop, but it helps to know how to knit, purl and cast on. At Hedestrik, we would like to draw attention to all the Nordic wool left unused as a by-product on Nordic sheep farms. We will talk about wool from a climate perspective and the types of wool you can choose. We choose dogmestrik and free-form knitting as an alternative to the commercial world of yarn and knitting.
