Duruflés Requiem og motetter
Work on Duruflés Requiem Opus 9 began in 1941 and was completed in 1947. Inspired by the Catholic Mass for the Dead, the work is a traditional sacred requiem in the same tradition as Faurés Requiem.
Its nine movements are based on liturgical texts in Latin and Greek, with Pie Jesu, featuring a mezzo-soprano solo, at its centre.
Both concerts also include performances of Duruflé's four Gregorian motets a cappella.
Københavns Bachkor consists of around 35 dedicated and experienced amateur singers and is conducted by Christian Tophøj Buur.
The soloists performing in the concert are Anna Carline Olesen, mezzo-soprano, Lauritz Jakob Thomsen, baritone, Isak Birkemose, organist, and Juliane B.
Soewarta, cello.
