VINTERJAZZ – ASTRID ENGBERG 29 JANUARY 2027 AT 20:00

Join us for a special performance of Astrid Engberg’s new album Cracks in the beautiful entrance hall of Thorvaldsens Museum, as part of Vinterjazz 2027. With an expanded band, the Danish singer and composer invites the audience to a one-night-only performance in these special surroundings: “I’m incredibly excited about the concert at Thorvaldsens Museum. It will be a unique performance of the album and the realisation of a musical dream I’ve had for a long time.” The album, already acclaimed by critics, has received 6 stars from GAFFA and marks a move towards a more accessible and acoustic jazz universe in Astrid Engberg’s oeuvre. The album centres on being present and paying sensory attention to the world around us. The evening is therefore an invitation to slow down and let the music unfold in this historic setting. Doors open at 19:30, and as unfortunately we do not have a foyer, we ask the audience to arrive no earlier than 19:30. The concert has unreserved seating, and you can help yourself to a glass in the café before the concert starts at 20:00.

ABOUT THE ALBUM CRACKS “Songwriting liberated from time and space, so the possibilities seem endless” ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Politiken “Minimalism and beauty triumph” ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Gaffa What if being attentive has become a radical act? This is a question that recurs on Cracks, the third album by Danish composer, producer and vocalist Astrid Engberg. Based in Copenhagen, Astrid turns her back on the relentless pace and increasing digitalisation of modern life, celebrating instead the moments most people pass by without noticing: a woman blowing soap bubbles outside her daughter’s nursery, teenagers skipping rope in a town square, sunlight catching the glint of her partner’s earring, a little boy chasing pigeons, a comforting phone call with a sister, the silence of a church in Assisi, Italy.
