Pumpehuset, København V
Morbidfest
Three legendary names from the classic death metal scene come together for MORBIDFEST at Pumpehuset on 25 November.
I AM MORBID, ATHEIST and CANCER each deliver a special set focusing on some of the albums and periods that helped shape extreme metal. Three bands. Three classic album sets. One evening dedicated to death metal as it sounded when the genre really took shape. Narcotic Wasteland will be supporting.
I AM MORBID, fronted by former Morbid Angel frontman David Vincent, will take to the stage with a special “ABCD” Classics set dedicated to Morbid Angel’s first four classics: Altars of Madness, Blessed Are the Sick, Covenant and Domination – a period that cemented the band’s status as one of the death metal genre’s most important pioneers.
American band ATHEIST is also celebrating the 35th anniversary of Unquestionable Presence. The 1991 album blended death metal with jazz, complex rhythms and progressive thinking, and is considered a pivotal work in the development of technical death metal.
British band CANCER rounds off the evening with a 35th anniversary set for Death Shall Rise. Their second album, released in 1991, was recorded at the legendary Morrisound Studios with Scott Burns and guitarist James Murphy, and is now regarded as a classic of the raw British death metal sound.
