Julekoncert – maia maia & Maria Lærke
Our joint Christmas concert springs from the time when winter’s darkness meets the light of Christmas. With an intimate concert set-up, our aim is to create a space for reflection, connection and community – a place where light can emerge, even when life hurts.
The songs revolve around heartbreak, loneliness and hope. We find that people discover new meaning in classic English Christmas songs when they hear them in their native language. The repertoire includes our Danish interpretation of the Christmas classic “O Holy Night” (“En Stjernenat”), and maia maia’s Danish version of Last Christmas (“Sidste Jul”).
ABOUT US: maia maia is known for her Danish versions of English pop songs and has enjoyed considerable success with her Danish cover of Last Christmas, which reached over 1 million streams last year. With official approval from George Michael’s estate, she subsequently released her Christmas music through Warner Music. Her music has also received frequent radio airplay, and she was selected for P4’s Ugens Hittip (the week’s most-played song) no fewer than twice in 2025. Her debut EP “hjernevrider” arrives on 25 September 2026.
Maria Lærke creates intimate, melancholic pop songs in Danish and has attracted considerable attention for her captivating vocals and presence. Her debut ballad Ruin was performed on the TV 2 programme Piano and has received airplay on P3, P4 and local radio stations across the country. She is currently working on new music in the same warm and honest vein, and will release her debut EP on 11 September 2026.
