THORIUM: Arriving exactly 30 years after the band first emerged from the Danish underground, “Suburban Rot” finds Thorium at their most focused, introspective and uncompromising. Across ten tracks, the veteran death metal outfit explores themes of urban decay, social decline and the people left behind by modern society, delivering what may be their most personal record to date. At the heart of the album lies a fascination with the forgotten corners of everyday life and the realities often hidden from view. While firmly rooted in Scandinavian death metal, “Suburban Rot” also reflects the different musical backgrounds that shape Thorium today. Guitarist JP Storm and drummer Daniel Preisler both carry ties to Dominus, one of Denmark’s most influential extreme metal acts, while guitarist Jose Cruz brings a darker melodic dimension and bassist Jesper Nielsen adds further weight and groove to the band’s sound.
