Anne Bakland - Slangetæmmer
What if everything we’ve been taught to feel ashamed of isn’t something that needs taming at all?
In her new stand-up show Slangetæmmer, Anne Bakland explores sex, sexuality, gender, kinks, shame and all the strange rules we humans have invented about what is normal — and what definitely isn’t.
Why are we in such a hurry to put each other in boxes?
Why can something that feels completely natural to one person seem to cross a line for another?
And when did we become so afraid of being curious?
With her dry northern Jutland delivery, offbeat take on human behaviour and experiences from a colourful life, Anne delves into our relationship with desire, identity and the things we might prefer not to talk about at a dinner party.
Not to define what is normal, but perhaps to find out why it matters so much to us in the first place.
The title Slangetæmmer plays with our oldest symbols of temptation and sin: the snake.
For perhaps the snake has been unfairly misunderstood?
Perhaps it isn’t the enemy at all, but an image of curiosity, sensuality and appetite — a part of us that we spend far too much energy keeping on a short leash.
Slangetæmmer is stand-up about people, desire and everything we do to fit in, from a comedian who has become more interested in examining the so-called normal than in being it herself.
It gets personal, cheeky and, hopefully, surprising.
Because perhaps it isn’t about taming the snake.
Perhaps it’s about learning to love it.
