(af)Magt – Kinas nye femårsplan
What does China want to achieve with its new five-year plan? (af)Magt is a series of events created by Det Udenrigspolitiske Selskab U35, KU Geopolitik and Universitetsbiblioteket i Fiolstræde, aiming to help you make sense of a confusing period in world history.
(af)Magt takes place in a truly unique setting: the beautiful old Universitetsbibliotek i Fiolstræde. In the second event in the (af)Magt series, we focus on the question: What does China want to achieve with its new five-year plan? With its 15th five-year plan, Beijing is setting its course for the coming years – focusing on technological self-sufficiency, ‘new quality productive forces’ and continued rivalry with the USA. But what does the plan actually mean for China's domestic and foreign policy, and how should Europe and Denmark approach a China that is simultaneously a partner, a competitor and a systemic rival? We will be joined by a panel of researchers and commentators, all with in-depth knowledge of China, who can take us behind the party congresses and plenary sessions to what really sets the agenda in Beijing. Look forward to meeting: Bo Ærenlund Sørensen: Assistant Professor of Chinese Studies at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, Københavns Universitet, whose research covers modern Chinese history, literature and digital research methods. Tabita Rosendahl: Sinologist and PhD student at Lunds Universitet, where she researches China's Belt and Road Initiative. Amalie Sofie Niegel: Master's student in Chinese Studies at Københavns Universitet and contributing writer for the China newsletter Sinolytica. Moderator, Mads Vesterager Nielsen: Sinologist, co-founder of Sinolytica and former head of Det Danske Handelskammer in Beijing.
