DESCRIPTION:Workshops in Japanese boro mending and sashiko embroidery –
  includes a ticket to Shokunin Japansk Designfestival on 14 or 15 Novembe
 r Sashiko means “small stitches”\, and each stitch bears witness to t
 he care and attention given to the chosen textile. Boro means “ragged
 ” or “patch upon patch”\, and comes about when fabric scraps are co
 mbined and sewn on with sashiko stitches.\n\nIn both sashiko and boro\, f
 unction and poetry come together. They celebrate the imperfect\, the worn
  and the well-lived. The techniques have their roots in Japan’s Edo per
 iod\, but live on today in a modern aesthetic that invites sustainability
  and a slower pace.\n\nAt the workshop\, you’ll get an engaging introdu
 ction to sashiko and boro\, set within the unique surroundings of Shokuni
 n Japansk Designfestival.\n\nThe workshop is led by Ida Christoffersen\, 
 who uses sashiko\, boro and indigo dyeing to upcycle discarded clothes th
 rough her brand YUME.ITO – part of the sustainable design collective Re
 :wair Studio - A Circular Collective.\n\nIda has travelled to Japan\, whe
 re she has received 1:1 instruction from several sashiko\, boro and indig
 o artists.\n\nDuring the workshop\, you will\n\nGet a short introduction 
 to the history and philosophy of the techniques\n\nLearn the running stit
 ches used to build patterns\, rhythm and calm\n\nHave the option of worki
 ng with water-soluble Stick & stitch stickers designed by Yume.ito\, or c
 reating your own patterns.\n\nGet inspiration for how to mend\, reinforce
  and transform worn or simply dull…
