DESCRIPTION:See 400-year-old knitted stockings up close and try your hand
  at recreating the historic design.\n\nA talk\, a display of archaeologic
 al finds and a workshop led by sock knitter and designer Birgit Kønig an
 d archaeologist and museum curator Mia Toftdal.\n\nKøbenhavns Museum wel
 comes sock knitter and designer Birgit Kønig\, who has recreated a desig
 n from a historic stocking found by archaeologists from Københavns Museu
 m.\n\nWe begin the evening by looking at the well-preserved remains of st
 ockings worn by Copenhageners several hundred years ago. The stockings we
 re mainly found during excavations at Rådhuspladsen as part of the Metro
  construction works. You will then hear about the history of the knitted 
 stocking before the workshop begins. During the workshop\, you will recei
 ve the knitting pattern for the sock\, based on a historic original. Alon
 g the way\, Birgit will offer tips and ideas\, explain different ways of 
 casting on and show more than 60 socks.\n\nThere will be an opportunity t
 o buy other patterns by Birgit for DKK 15 each. The proceeds go to Læger
  Uden Grænser.\n\nPlease note: Bring your own knitting needles (3 mm)\, 
 double-pointed needles (3 mm) and sock yarn. The talk will be followed by
  a 1–1.5-hour workshop\, where you can start knitting your stockings an
