DESCRIPTION:My life has never been stable. Things happened during my chil
 dhood that should never happen to children\, and they made it difficult f
 or me to flourish as a person. I spent 27 years living with addiction and
  crime\, and it was only after a near-death experience that I was able to
  turn my life around completely and get to where I am today. What do I ta
 lk about? My childhood was marked by neglect and abuse that no one believ
 ed had happened. I lived with an inner conflict: if no one believed what 
 I said\, was there something wrong with me? That was the beginning of a l
 ong escape – further and further away from myself.\n\nIn my early twent
 ies\, I qualified as a car mechanic and later became a vehicle inspection
  inspector. I got a foot in the door of “normal” life. At the same ti
 me\, I started spending my weekends in Copenhagen’s techno scene\, wher
 e drugs were everywhere\, and I quickly took a liking to them. I started 
 selling drugs\, and for the first time I felt that I was someone people w
 anted to spend time with. It got its hooks into me.\n\nAs I moved further
  into the criminal underworld\, I gradually lost my footing in normal lif
 e. When I lost my job\, I gave myself over completely to crime. I was wil
 ling to take risks\, thought quickly and became good at what I did. The c
 rime became more organised and more serious\, and I lived with the feelin
 g that I always had to look over my shoulder. To calm my nerves\, I took 
 more and more drugs – including benzodiazepines and opioids. I spent 7 
 years…
