SUMMARY:Das musikalische Opfer
LOCATION:Garnisonskirken\, Sankt Annæ Pl. 4\, 1250 København
DESCRIPTION:Bach’s musical testament.\n\nA drama about faith and reason
.\n\nDet Musikalske Offer is one of J.S.\n\nBach’s last works and can b
e said to represent the old master’s musical testament.\n\nHere\, he de
monstrates the possibilities of polyphonic compositional technique in a f
inal\, masterful manifestation of the Baroque’s rule-based\, Christian
worldview.\n\nThe work is also a response to the new music of the Enlight
enment\, Rococo and Classicism\, with their more individualistic and subj
ective approach to music.\n\nDet Musikalske Offer is rarely performed\, b
ut now four of Denmark’s leading classical musicians—concertmaster Ch
ristina Åstrand (violin)\, Henrik Dam Thomsen (cello)\, Ulla Miilmann (f
lute) and Peter Navarro-Alonso (organ)—have joined forces with author J
ens Christian Grøndahl and actor Jens Albinus to create a unique concert
  performance.
