SUMMARY:Concerto Copenhagens Julekoncert 2026 - København
LOCATION:Trinitatis Kirke\, Landemærket 2\, 1150 København K
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Concerto Copenhagen’s Christmas concert\, where
the evocative music of the Baroque conjures up the sounds of Christmas. T
he music centres on two of Christmas’s most fundamental feelings: the j
oy of anticipating the coming of the infant Jesus\, the Saviour of the wo
rld\, and the peace that we hope will descend upon us and the world. In t
he Baroque musical imagination\, this peace is often depicted through pas
torals: scenes in which the shepherds in the fields near Bethlehem are lu
lled by gentle\, flowing rhythms\, and the world stands still for a momen
t.\n\nAt the heart of this landscape is Bach’s idyllic aria Schafe kön
nen sicher weiden\, in which the sheep can graze in safety under the prot
ective gaze of a good shepherd.\n\nJohann Sebastian Bach is the clear gui
ding light of the concert\, which also features beautiful and rarely hear
d works by Georg Philipp Telemann\, Johann David Heinichen\, Johann Chris
toph Pez\, Johann Kuhnau and Christoph Graupner.\n\nLet the peace of Chri
stmas descend with Concerto Copenhagen\, conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortense
n\, and soloist Joanne Lunn\, the English soprano\, in a concert where th
e hope of Advent\, the light of Christmas and the year’s final reflecti
ons intertwine in the warm sounds of the Baroque. Read more and see the p
