EN: Celebrate the 40th edition of Copenhagen Jazz Festival with excellent duo Tomatito and Michel Camilo in DR Koncerthuset on July 12. Expect a visionary musical rendezvous of jazz and flamenco with new and award-winning interpretations of Eric Satie, Egberto Gismonti, Astor Piazolla and other classics from "Spain Forever".

Anyone who has every witnessed the torrential solo performances of Dominican Republic piano maestro Michel Camilo might assume there wouldn’t be much room on stage for an equal partner, but his partnership with flamenco guitarist Tomatito has been compatibly maturing for many years.

This third installment of Tomatito & Michel Camilo’s award-winning project comes 10 years after the success of Spain Again (2006) and completes the trilogy of this magical duo, which pioneered the union of a Piano and a Flamenco guitar. The collaboration between these two artists began at the Barcelona Jazz Festival 19 years ago in the Palau de La Musica. This project has kept them together through three albums and numerous international tours since they began playing as a duo back in 1997. Two great performers and close friends who gather once again to offer us a repertoire, where the Piano and the Guitar communicate with each other and coexist in an intimate space. Where both performers find a place - in the middle - which grants them the freedom to explore and emerge with fresh interpretations and visions of classic songs.

Michel Camilo & Tomatito open the new album with a personal homage paid to one of their favourite artists, Brazilian guitarist and composer Egberto Gismonti, making a lyrical version of his classic "Agua e Vinho". The next tribute to the late double bass player Charlie Haden takes the form of an intimate rendition of his "Our Spanish Love Song". And then the Spain Again link is settled with a dramatically beautiful cover of the notorious Astor Piazzolla's milonga "Oblivion" with an almost orchestral arrangement. Erik Satie's "Gnossienne nº 1" opens the repertoire to the Mediterranean Sea in an Arabic style of melodic originality as minimalistic as impressionistic.

“Spain Forever” won the Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album in 2017.
