Alternative means of transport in Copenhagen

Horse carriage in CopenhagenFree City Bikes, bicycle taxis, rickshaws, sightseeing boats, kayaks, horse carriages, taxis and limousines – there are more than public buses and trains to be explored as a means of transportation in Copenhagen, especially during the summer season!
Many of these alternative transports are suitable just for tourists, and the service they provide is very good.

Horse and carriage are an option in car-free zones like Christiania and Bakken. Københavns Hestedrosche arranges tours for up to 5 persons in Christiania and the inner city.

rickshaw in CopenhagenRickshaws in Copenhagen are quite comfortable and suitable for tourist routs, or for getting to/from a hotel. They are provided by a couple of companies and have different models; you might like to try a ride in Quickshaw – a typical Christiania bicycle, where you sit in from of the driver. The price in those is like for a taxi. Read more: A-Z/bicycles »

Taxi & rentals

Taxis can be hailed on street or ordered by phone/internet. Riding a cab in Copenhagen, do not forget to fasten your seatbelt. Read more: A-Z/taxi »

An alternative to a rental car from the agencies like Avis or Hertz (they all have their offices near Vesterport Station) would be a car from “rent a wreck” (Lej et lig), which costs under 50 euro/day.
